Answers to questions like this always reveal how Simple Simon we can be. What if the reformed ex-felon was himself a rapist (I assume it's a male, since Simple Simon-ly speaking, women don't murder)? I think our judging has became way too easily an entertaining, habitual pastime.

This is why working in law, whether you are a defending attorney, prosecuting attorney, police officer, or judge, it is beyond difficult to make any decisions because there is always that part of you thinking is he/she guilty or not guilty? Then vigilantes come along and take low life rapist or murderers "out" and you have to hold them according to the law. There are alot of people who are arrested who were set up and get 10 years and then with the new DNA research, the detective or whoever find out that they were innocent and the real criminal is either at large or dead. I wish I could clearly answer your question with a strait forward response within what the law provides. I would in the end pay off a doctor to see him as temporarily insane, and then get him released after a year.

I'd be forced to not hear the case due to personal involvement. But I'd offer the ex-felon the best legal advice I could.

Prosecute and sentence him like everyone else, no vigilantes allowed in my court, justice and fairness for all.

Be blessed.
