dvd/cd drive?

have played dvd s on my laptop before no problem, but now for some reason when i insert one it says windows media player cannot play this dvd because a compatable dvd decoder is not installed on your computer. this puzzles me can anyone help please

u need to install dvd decoder 2 ur pc . u may delete without ur knowledge
