Depends on your local authority although many skip hire firms take care of that now and include the price of the permit ( about £10 ) in the price. If your not sure park your car to the end of the skip which is most likely to get hit by a car !! if they hit your car its there fault if they hit the skip you may get sued for not having the skip light correctly.

If you are leaving it in a parking bay you will need a 'skip licence' available from your local town hall (about £10 if i remember) when you phone to hire a skip a reputable company should tell you what is required and wont drop off the skip untill they are satisfied all is well

If you are on a busy road then yes you will need a permit. Best to check with your local council before you order one and if you do, make sure you have working lights on it otherwise you will be charged by the council when someone rings and complains.

the skip firm normally have blanket cover for this in the form of public liability insurance but to assume in a court of law is no defence look at the small print on the skip hire contract or ask the firm for proof and that they are covered in this instance but always get it in writing in some form or other for your own sake in this day of heath and safety and injury claims its easy to fall into
this trap speak to your environmental health dept in your local council

The people from whom you hire the skip should take care of any permit requirements.

If it is on the road most skip companys should have the relevant details for this.
Ask them when you call.

Only if there are waiting restrictions, if there are contact your local police first. If there aren't you must ensure that the skip is lit at it's corners during darkness. The company providing it should, I believe, provide the necessary markers/lights.

Is it a skip or a Lada Convertible? Either way, if it is on a public highway, you need a licence... assuming you are in the UK.
