Hi,
It's nicknamed the Big Coat hanger buy the locals. The funny thing is you rarely hear a local call it that. It's the tourist that tend to say it because that's what they think the locals call it.

Trivia:
On completion of the Sydney Harbour Bridge, were did the put the last bolt????

I just call it The Bridge. I agree with the previous answer - I very rarely hear a real local call it the Coathanger.

sydneysiders are superior to our melbournian cousins and referr to their yarra river as being the only waterway in the world that flows upside down.[and it does].
in a pathetic attempt to balance this rivallry they referr to our bridge as "the coathanger". We of course love the description and treat as our own.
melbourne still loses.
