Let me put it to you this way. If it wasn't for the media, you wouldn't be here on Yahoo. You wouldn't have television, radio, or the internet. You'd have no way to excersize your first amendment rights, and no way of getting information to keep yourself informed.
It is your job to pull the facts out of the pitch of the story. Even if you don't agree with the reporter, you have a thousand more who are telling you the same thing, only with a different slant.

Perhaps it is fear of the facts which drives them to hate the messanger. What do you think?

Most haven't a clue about the media, its history or how it works. They just parrot whatever comes in the talking points supplied by those they allow to manipulate them.

Interesting point, but creating a media platform doesn't address the media's behavior.

For example, if a newspaper is going to provide objective information for the public or state only facts, then why endorse a candidate? Why do they even need to take a position if they are stating only facts, unless they are trying to form public opinion based upon ideology?

- what if the media's opinion is wrong?

If what you are stating is true, then the public as a whole could watch both FOX news and CNN news and walk away with the same opinion.

This is a concerted effort to propagandize the news. It started with the Republican repeal of the "Fairness Doctrine" in 1987, a standard that had been in place since 1949. This law required broadcasters to make time available to opposing views when they broadcast partisan opinion. The repeal of this law opened the door for radio programs of the political assault type - such as Rush Limbaugh.

""The 1949 policy by the Federal Communications Commission once required licensed radio and television stations to give equal time to opposing political views.
It's a matter of fairness say supporters like Bill Press, liberal commentator and host of the "Bill Press Radio Show."
Press said, "Remember, these are public licenses. There are very few of them that these people get. They're great privileges to have these licenses. There should be, I think, some conditions attached to those licenses."
Conservative critics have called the doctrine a liberal plot to "hush Rush," a move to silence political opponents. ""

Because the job of the reporters and media is to report the facts, not to make up lies to promote their personal political agenda.Thats why no one likes todays media. If they went back to reporting the news and kept the politics out of it,we wouldnt have a problem with the media.

Politicians (especially conservatives) hate and fear the media because it's what keeps them accountable. They'd get away with more if it weren't for those "meddling reporters". In many cases, they'll demonize the press while trying to pay off Fox News to take a particular spin on it, or produce video-news releases that are commercials in disguise. Bush himself has never held many open press conferences, and in many he singles out the friendly reporters (or that direct plant from The Talon) who'll toss him snowballs instead of hard-hitting direct questions.

Viva la free press! It's what keeps our democracy...a democracy.

I don't hate the media. I hate the fact that too many Americans are spoon-fed their opinions by the media.

I hate the sound-byte mentality we are developing. I think it makes it easy for us to be hood-winked.

The media is a lobby pushing for what it thinks is in it's interest or has been persuaded to support.

But are we getting all the facts, are we getting the truth, are we receiving as unbiased as possible the entire story?
