I would find a good spot because the "Red Oak" gets tall and wide. After you find a good place you dig a hole bigger the the root ball not deeper. Plant about atleast an inch high. Dig an edge around the tree. Mulch with super grade A cypress it comes in a 3 cubic foot bag. Put a weed preventer like preen to keep it weed free. Pull all other weeds as they grow. Fertilize after the first spring with a slow release granules. Something like 14-14-14. Don't forget water for the first year and as needed after. This tree should hit a growth spurt in about three years. Remove dead limbs as needed. You can see your tree grow year after year with my easy steps. Good luck!

Dig a hole 2x the size of the root ball. Place tree in the hole, the crown of the tree slightly above the existing soil line. backfill the hole with loose dirt of similar composition to the surrounding soil.
Water well until established. Then water once a week ,enough time to get the root area soaked.
Mulch if needed

Green side up. Come on that's an old landscaping joke among landscapers. Seriously though don't plant the tree any deeper than it was originally and don't cover up the top roots in the root ball. The top roots need oxygen so don't compress the top soil either.

you dig a hole, put the seedling in there pretty deep, water it ,and make sure you plant it in an open space with no other roots or floweers
