when you were out with your baby have you ever had strangers try to play with your kid but you don't want someone (not all of them) touch your kid especially if they're dirty or look ill
what do you do in these situations?

Yea, I'd probably be a little nicer than the others too- and say, sorry,we are in a hurry! :) I love babies too- have one of my own, I simply look at other babies- not touch them. I'm not sure why everyone has to come up and touch them- I don't really care how cute they are, people just don't understand.

I was usually too nice about this and let strangers touch my daughter when she was a newborn even though it upset me to see it happen. But they werent dirty or ill looking, they looked 'normal'. The very thought of how many germs the normal adult (let alone older child) is covered with makes any new parent a bit queasy I think, unless they havent experienced/dont think of what it would be like having a sick baby to take care of.

If someone was dirty or ill looking, I wouldnt be 'nice' like I was... I would ask them to please not touch my daughter, or I would politely tell them to have a nice day as I walked away with her. It makes you feel good to hear compliments about your child, but the best way to avoid people touching your baby is to not let them very close to you. Certainly not within touching distance, as too many people think that a baby is public property. (I asked a ? about strangers touching your baby and how that makes you feel awhile back - we've all had nasty experiences and only 2 of the 30+ people who responded dont mind it when strangers touch their child).

i always try to my son who is 9 months as close to me as possible. so people usually get the hint you can look but don't touch.
what i hate is my son has a skin problem where a little patch on his face gets red and sore looking i have had women come up to me and start touching his rash. i just move the stroller and ask them to please not touch him. i always look at peoples baby but i never touch someone else baby. in this day in age you would think people would not do that

People do this all the time to my daughter who has cerebral palsy. She has a trach to breathe with and its HIGHLY important that she doesnt get sick because she can get life threating sick with her airway open like that. I always tell people
"Yes she is cute, but would you please not touch her, we are trying to keep her germ free and sick free this winter, summer etc." Some people are put off by it but some are cool with it. Either way they stop touching her and thus reduce the risk that she will be going back to the hospital.

I've had this problem to. I don't understand why people do this. I would never touch anyone's child without their permission. When my friend's daughter was born, I even asked her first if it was okay for me to hold her, and I washed my hands first without being asked (you should always wash your hands before holding a newborn). People just have no common courtesy these days.

I'd probably try to be a little more polite than that, but I'd still get the heck away from them right away.

Just remind yourself, everybody loves a baby.
