Why do Qb's raise their leg once before the ball is being snapped?

They do it to tell the center that they are ready for the snap, because it may be really noisy in the stadium they are playing at

To indicate to the center that he's ready to take the snap. The center's looking for that signal, then will raise his head and snap the ball so that he's prepared to block.
