You realize this question has only been asked about 1 million times here...
For the most part, he has done well. He took on terrorism when other president's ran from it, or where too afraid of the consequences of what war can do to a President.
War is something that is VERY unpopular. No one loves to see good men and women go into battle and kill or get killed. However, it is best that they go and do their job in another country and NOT have it come here again.
As far as the statistics of war and the Iraq war, some think that the 3000 we have lost to this war is excessive. The thing they never look at is how many we lost in WWI, WWII, Korea, or Vietnam. They lost hundreds more in one day then we have lost in this entire war. That is amazing and great!
What most should look at is what would happen if we pulled out? What if we never went in?
The terrorist would think as they still do that we are cowards and that we will never face them.
Usama bin Laden thinks that since he won a war against a superpower named Russia, that he can win a war against a Superpower named the USA. (He seems to have an EGO issue)

I think the question is irrelevant, because he has been in office for 6 years. However, I found him to be an idiot and embarrasment over 6 years ago, and he has never let me down. I would have no problem with him working at the local Walmart, but as president, he is a bad thing for this country.

I do not know what his effect is on the country. In a couple of years we will start to get an answer to this question.
The only thing that I'm glad to see, and some people might be shocked, is the fact that he didn't change his policy based on his ratings. I personally cannot see a person to be a good leader, when he/she changes the policy based on popularity. So that is one of my criteria by which I judge a person to be a good leader or bad.

Many of your responses mention Iraq, which has been the major controversy. People seem to forget that the Iraq war didn't begin with George W. Bush. It began with Saddam Hussein attacking Kuwait and threatening Saudi Arabia when George H. W. Bush was President, and it continued while Clinton was President. Remember the "no-fly" zones and the Iraqis constantly firing at our overflights with anti-aircraft guns and SAM missiles? And at least the well-known attempt to manufacture and hide WMD's?
George W. Bush's invasion put an end to Saddam and his sons, and most of Saddams lieutenants, and Saddam's mass murder of his own citizens.
George W. Bush hasn't been the best President ever, but he did the best he could with the information that was provided to him by the CIA. Nearly everyone at the time, both liberal and conservative, agreed that we had to do something about Iraq. Clinton just failed to do it. Hindsight is 20/20.

On my opinion he is 'good thing' for his people before the Iraq crisis. The steps he took after the 911 attacks earned good name to him among the people of USA but his unnecessary interferance over the saddam issue makes him a bad thing.

You are not going to get a national consensus on here.
I do however feel President Bush has been very good for this country.

Bush has been a bad thing for the world. All the Iraqi's who are trying not to get shot in our little war can't sign on to share their opinions in this consensus but I think they would be happy to see the back of him.
