I've been told Billabong do a good line of these, but I've been unable to find such a piece of clothing. Has anyone been able to buy such an item, or know where such an item exists?

Hi,

I always wear a regular cotton T-shirt when I go swimming. They are cheap and I don't find them uncomfortable. The downside of colored shirts is that the color fades a little due to the chlorine in the water. White T-shirts (obviously) don't have this problem. I have some polyester T-shirts which don't fade much either, but I find them a little less comfortable to swim in.

I know that Speedo and/or TYR sells something like this. You can look under their lifeguard apparrel or you could try their triathlete suits. The triathlete suits may be quite expensive. They both sell wetsuits for young children, and I believe Speedo has a wide variety of swimsuit styles for women; this may include a t-shirt-style.

If you are unsuccessful with Speedo or TYR, you can try BodyGlove. I know that they have even long-sleeved swim suits. As for the shorts, you could just buy a Jammer from any swimwear supplier, or just wear trunks.
Hope this helps.
