I think you mean 'scanning'. It is a device attached to your computer that can 'scan' (i.e. copy) a page or print or anything flat and create a picture of it on your computer.

Sounds like you've activated some form of anti-virus software. This is a good thing. It'll cleanse or quarantine any infected files.

Either that or you are referencing a scanner. This is an external device that allows you to scan (print) things from paper to the computer screen instead of vice versa.

scanning is a process where the comp starts to investigate or rather open the file,but unseen to the comp users eye,this means you dont open a file while scanning the com does...thats why the scans of an antivirus/spyware are called scans

there are two basic possibilities: one is you use a scanner to scan certain materials into your computer, ie: old photographs or certain documents or pages of a book.
another is using an antivirus or antispyware program to search your computer for any spyware or viruses.

Scanning is a program that checks your computyer for any problems after finding such problems it will then ask you what to do with them
