It depends if you're going with your pants on are not. Normally, no seat separation is needed. Bare bottomed, two-seat separation is standard.
It is always good to remember that the old yawn-hands-over-their-shoulder trick is a bad idea when going with another man.
One common alternative is to go to the front of the theatre, and address the crowd during the previews. Let them know that you are watching Borat together, but are very straight. That should clear up any confusion.
And of course, the "right side" of the theatre is actually the wrong side. Any self-respecting heterosexual should always stay on the left side of the theatre. If you're smart, you'll have your buddy sit to the right of you as well. That means that even if the two of you were gay, he would be the woman in the relationship.
If you think my perspective is weird then you've got something else coming when you see Borat :)

Your question is too. Why would you leave a seat between the two? Do you do that at a football game or on a bus? Have you never seen two straight people hang out before? Next time your not at home look around and see how many guys walk next to each other, sit next to each other, and even talk and laugh without being gay.

I mean what the hell, do you think if you sit right next to each other you're gonna start making out if your whole life you have liked the opposite sex?
If there is enough room in the theatre, yea have a seat between you- you wouldn't sit next to each other that close at home- but if not, watch the frickin movie, aren't you two both married? Now THAT is juvenile!

Are you expecting someone to sit between you and maybe hold your hands???
I think you should both be grown up enough and comfortable with your masculinity enough to be able to sit next to each other & not worry about "if you might be gay".
Unless you "might" be gay......then.....hmmmmm that's a whole different thing.
Have fun at the movie...nudge nudge wink wink
