get a calculator and then all you do is this:
divide 50,000 by 140000
you should get an answer looking like this;
0.357142857
you times this by one hundred.
then take the first 3 figures. These are the significant figures.
The answer is 35.7%.
The process is exactly the same for any sum as I have done this in maths just last week!! I got it all right so good luck with anymore you are doing. Just do this process and you'll have the answer in no time!!

percentages are just special fractions so to work 50,000 as a percentage of 140,000 write it as a fraction
50,000/140,000
now remember that a fraction is just a division so work out
50,000 divided by 140,000
since you want a percentage just multiply this answer by 100
make sure you do it yourself, that way you will learn how to do it and know weather the other answers are right or you are just being conned by them!!!!
