Because of Zune?

No.

MSFT is nearing the US$30/share threshold again because the market has been on a tear since the June rally that has set the Dow to record highs. MSFT, as a member of the thirty stocks in the DJIA, has participated along with them.

Zune is a itsy, bitsy, teeny weeny part of MSFT's business portfolio. Their bread and butter is still overwhelmingly still Operating Systems. While Zune may be whiz bang and iPod may be losing share (because that's the only direction you can go when you almost have all the market share), it almost certainly has nothing to do with the momentum of the last six months.

To be quite honest I think microsoft is behind the curve here and apple will be eating there lunch. Zune may sell a number of units but the real place to go are phones that can acts as music players as well an apple's new device is going to put the zune as an interesting footnote in technology innovation - but that is about it.
