I agree with the other answer, go to the bank and stop payments. If they keep sending paper bills, just tell them that the person who holds that account is dead. Works pretty well.

I am sorry you had that experience, I have heard that AOL does the same thing, and unfortunately I can't offer advice on how to stop it. What I can offer is my experience with NetZero...... it was real easy to get, the service is great, with the platinum plan, it's $9.95 a month, no contract required, and there's an 800 number you can call to cancel, and they cancel immediately. I had it, cancelled it for high speed cable internet through Cox, and have just recently upgraded back from the free Netzero again. They let you keep the free NetZero (10 hours a month) even if you cancel the paid unlimited subscription. I had also tried the NetZero hi-speed, which I don't necessarily recommend, because it isn't really faster or better than platinum, and you have to sign up for a year. The regular platinum is month to month. Quick, easy, turn it on, turn it off, no problems. I also have hi-speed cable internet, with the NetZero as a backup for now. Am thinking about going back to the plain dial-up with NetZero because it's way cheaper, and it really does do just fine for what I use the internet for.

I had the same problem. I agree that the best thing to do is cancel through the bank. Also the next time you call it would be wise to keep the cancellation number, date and time of call, as well as the representative you were talking to. Some banks like to know that so when they contact peoplepc they have proof that peoplepc are in the wrong.

I once went to a Bob Dylan show alone. It wasn't so bad, but I had rather go with a friend. People at concerts (well, the ones I attend anyway) are generally really friendly. If you want to talk you can always start up a conversation with the people sitting next to you easily enough. After all, you at least have one thing in common with them...the person you all came to see. However, if you're a young girl and there alone it makes you an easy target for real life trolls. If someone I really wanted to see came to town but no one else wanted to go, I would definitely go alone again. Like I said, it wasn't so bad.

I would put a stop payment on them through your bank. They had to have given you a cancellation number when you canceled, right? Even if you have to pay to stop payment, it's worth the $20 or so.

Send them a certified letter and send a copy to your bank. Also call the bank and let them no to honor no further charges to that company.

Cancel your direct debit with the bank - they cannot just "take" money from your bank without your authority.
