IF you know things won't work you need to do it quickly. Don't hang around looking or waiting for the right moment, you will only end up making it harder for yourself. Sit him down and talk to him. Explain to him exactly how you feel and why, BE HONEST!!

when you are with him be distant. when he asks you something don't answer the first time. when he asks what's wrong say "nothing". if he makes a minor mistake, blow it out of proportion. and last but not least tell him you love him but not that way, you love him more like a sibling.

take a few weeks to do it.

You need to explain to him, gently, why it's for the best. Do not say 'we need to talk' - you will make him all defensive.
Be as nice as you can be, don't rake over old issues, be firm and don't take all day!

Wishing you all the best, xxx.

Just explain that things aint working out and you dont see a future together and that you dont want to hurt him but you have to be straight with him. I would leave out the "I love you but..." good luck

It seems as either you or him not single, so if it is the best for both of you, tell him, before you or him regret it.

Just let him down gently and let him say what he says to get his feelings off his chest.
