and why do english fans think england is good enough to win anything, when it is blatenly obvious they are not. 1966 on home soil over 40 years ago is the past. even the toon army is more realistic than english fans ? NO OTHER HOME COUNTRY HAS THE SAME HIGH LEVEL OF EXPECTANCY !

england are NOT the best team in the world on paper, they're just quite good. world rankings mean sweet f.a. sorry guys - the USA was 4th going in to the world cup. england haven't beaten a big side in a competitive game in years - i think the last one that could be considered a 'big' side would be argentina in 2002 - and that was in the group stage, against an admittedly poor argentina side, from a spot kick. come on people! just admit england are sh.it

teams that could win:
portugal
germany
spain
italy (but i wouldn't bank on it)

@ David The best players in the MLS are not even American, they are washed up has beens like Schelotto, Angel, Moreno, Gomez, Blanco and Beckham. There is no way in hell that you can compare that crappy league to the much stronger FMF. The top MLS teams would probably struggle playing against second division teams in Mexico and the U.S. national team is inferior as well. Did you see how much the yanks struggled aainst England? They couldn't even string together 5 consecutive passes, and they were fouling England left and right. Your best players in Europe aren't exactly good players either. Bocanegra got cut from a weak Fulham squad, while Dempsey is a benchwarmer and Eddie Johnson doesn't even make the bench. Convey and Hahneman got relegated at Reading, and Feilhaber and Lewis were subs for Derby County, the worst team in EPL history. You wish that Americans could win championships in Europe like so many Mexicans have. Keep lying to yourself that Freddy Adu is better than Gio. And keep dreaming that Altidore will be pichichi at Real Madrid. Just don't hold your breath kid...

England are currently placed fifth in the official Fifa World Rankings. They also include in their squad some of the most highly rated players in the world. On the right day England are able to beat any team, as has been proved in recent years (Argentina, Germany etc). So your theory that England "blatently" don't have the ability to win anything is rubbish. They just have a problem with consistency

England have a decent chance of winning euro champs, they have a capable team who are as good as any other nation on their day. As for the second part of your question none of the other home countries have the same level of expectancy because they already know that even IF they get to the finals they wont get past the first round!

1st we have to qualify and then we shall see.
im not happy with the choice of manager and it seems niether are the players.
what we need is a man manager, someone who tells it as it is and a top coach.
but the fa will neverpick any outspoken man for the job, they only want yes men.
going back to your question any team in europe is capable of beating any team on its day,but the best team will win the competion on merit.

Did anyone think Greece were good enough? anybody can win it, its all about luck, espescially with injuries. a fully fit england squad with a half decent manager can win anything.

At least England can get to the quarter/semi finals. Scotland can't, Wales can't & Ireland didn't do all that well, so we're the only nation flying the flag for the UK, thank you.
