S-Video is video only, not audio.

Aurelius has it down.

Get the adapter he mentioned and plug it into the head-phone jack on your laptop. Run the other end into the RCA audio input jack on your TV.

That's basically how I do it.

If you still want to have an available head-phone jack, you can buy a splitter and plug his adapter into the splitter.

There is no way to output sound to your television (easily) via your laptop. The best thing to do is use computer speakers hooked up directly to your laptop. Target or Walmart has fairly decent speakers for about 20 bucks (or if this is a pretty permenant thing) you could spring for a system that has a subwoofer (about 60 bucks).

If your laptop is hooked up to an LCD or Plasma television then you could used a component wire (available at Bestbuy or Circuit city to connect the two) just tell a salesperson what you are looking for and they will direct you to it (costs about 40 bucks and is made by either Belkin or Monster) Note: The sound for the component wire is not as good as hooking up speakers directly to the lap top.

Hope this helps!

You'll need a 1/8" stereo mini plug to (2) phono plug adapter, along with some extensions of some sort.

Part 42-2551 at Radio Shack for the adapter itself. From there, you can also get couplers and extensions if you need.

you could just use the headphone jack from the laptop using a 1/4'' to rca y cable, the sound won't be that great but it will work.
Radio Shack is the best place to go for this sort of thing and you can see what I mean by going here: http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=415363&CatId=466

s-video cable, "is for video only", you will need a seperate set of audio leads for sound.
