yes i think so,,,,, both the terrorist we are familar with today, who act for religious or political reasons or both, and other terrorist who single out individuals or individual groups,,,, get a sense of power and elation,,,, both from the act and the concept that they are right, or are connected to the "right" God, group etc.
killing or harming people,,,, who have done no action directly to you, is a sadistic thing,,,,
the ones who do it , feel in control, atleast for that moment in time

Friend, do you see the Animal Kingdom TV channel showing tens of thousands of wild animals crossing Masai river in Africa? Infested with killer crocodiles waiting to pounce on the animals.
Only the front few , leading the pack know that crossing the river is fraught with danger. The animals , in the back, donot see anything or know anything. Once the leader takes the decision the herd will simply follow, come what may.
Terrorism is very similar. Only a few, at the very top , hold the power . Power with a belief and conviction. They commit the other thousands and thousands . These "soldiers" are not power driven but just follow their leaders.
There is no corelation.

The survey says Yes !
Regrettably, I have no personal experiences with terrorism to share with you. [My parents might argue with that, though.]
