I'd agree with you except younger people by virtue of their age are less informed. Most of them have simply accepted the views they've naively accepted from other people (parents, teachers, news media, etc) whether it's in their best interest not.

I wouldn't care except the scary thing is it affects my little world and I care a great deal about that.

The voting age should stand at 18. If you are old enough to fight for your country you should be able to chose your Commander in Chief and policy makers. I was 18, in Southeast Asia and couldn't vote until I was 21. Younger than 18, you simply do not have the life experience to understand all the ramifications nationally and internationally of your vote. As one person above put it, you are too easily swayed at that age. You need to have been burned a few times to earn the healthy skepticism a good voter need.

No.While there are some teens who would make an informed decision, there are too many that would just follow whomever their friends or parents are voting for. Most teens have no idea what the real world is all about.Personally I think the age should be raised.I know when I was young I didn't make informed decisions when I voted,as we age,the real issues become apparent.Until you have actually lived in the real world, you don't have a clue.

No. I think the age should be raised to 21. As you will find, the older you get, the wiser and more mature you become. The time will come when you can take part in voting, until then if you want to contribute why not work as a volunteer with a local candidate's office that you like? It would be a way to make certain your candidate gets elected, and would be a great learning experience.

I don't even think that young teens should be allowed to drive! Do I really want them choosing who's going to run the government?! They have enough trouble picking their homecoming queen for crying out loud.
And what would be the point of lowering the voting age? Advantages?
Why in the world does the voting age need to be any lower than 18? I'm glad that you want to have a hand in voting in the people who will be changing your future, but I still don't want children in the voting booth. Perhaps you'll be able to change the future of young people in the years to come by running for office yourself.

I think it needs to stay where it is. Eighteen is considered a legal age to many federal laws. It is a time when most teenagers are out of grammar school and either working or going to college. Either way, they are actually having to deal with the issues pertaining to government elections. When you are in high school, you parents are the responsible party and you do not have to deal with any of the issues personnally. Also, you may think you know everything at this young age, but trust me, you don't know half of what you should to make an actual informed decision.

No way. Historically, young people don't vote. So I'm not sure it really matters.

Besides I don't think everybody who votes now should be able to vote. In addition to having to pass a test on mental health, voters should have to attend and pass a stringent class on the United States Consitution and basic civics.

9 out of 10 voters don't know how many justices sit on the Supreme Court? That's ridiculous.

i does not decrease the balloting age yet i think of the utilizing age vs balloting age does not make experience in North united states of america of america. In Canada wechronic at sixteen and vote at 18. So a sixteen year previous is mature sufficient to be at the back of the wheel of a motor vehicle yet no longer mature sufficient to forged a vote?! This isn't clever. additionally, a sixteen year previous canchronic him/herself to the flicks of their very own motor vehicle yet no longer see a action picture with too plenty violence or intercourse with the aid of fact they do no longer seem to be 18! Ridiculous! I do think of colleges (right here in Canada besides) might earnings from in school mock elections. while i became into in extreme college we had an expert Elections Canada mock election the place the senior pupils examine the systems of their classes, attended mock debates, extremely voted on election day utilizing genuine Election Canada ballots, and have been in contact the day after the vote contained in the technique to count type the ballots. It became into extremely very exciting and maximum pupils took it heavily. i do no longer think of sufficient youthful human beings extremely recognize how fortunate they're to get an threat to vote.

I feel that lowering the voting age would be a good thing. As long as unbiased education from both schools and parents helps give children a solid base from which to choose their candidates.

No because you will only get the parents opinions twice. Sorry, but children don't understand the consequences of their voting enough to make informed decisions.
