What e.g's are there of the US imposing trade barriers (quotas/tariffs) as it lost competitiveness with China?

There were import quotas on textiles from China which caused many retailers to diversify their suppliers - as a result you see tremendous growth in suppliers from India. Some quotas have been raised since then. Look for more barriers to come to even the playing field.
