After he wrote Fear and Loathing I think he bacame a bit self indulgent. He definitely broke ground though. At his best he was like lightning hitting ice. Miss him.

I agree. I like Hell's Angel's, it's the most literal of his books, before the anger and the drugs really took over. 'The Great Shark Hunt' is an early collection of peices and that is good. Don't get me wrong, I like Fear and Loathing, but it kinda exhausts me, and like any book/film about drugs, it's always more fun for the people that are taking them than those who arn't. At Hunter Thompson's request Johnny Depp had Hunter's ashes shot into the sky- now that's a way to go !!

That's a difficult one, good question! I liked Hell's Angels a lot, I know a lot of guys in motorcycle clubs, so this one was especially interesting to me. Hell's Angels is the one that really started the whole Gonzo journalism. I also loved Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. One of the reasons that it's one of my favorites is because Hunter's assignment was to write a short caption about that desert race in Las Vegas for a magazine but he ended up writing the entirety of the Fear and Loathing book and sending it in to the magazine. Hilarious. Can't decide between those two for which is my favorite, they're both phenomenal.

I liked Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas but I preferred 'Kingdom of Fear' as it was semi biographical and covered a large period of time.

Hells Angels was good but I preferred Fear and Loathing on the Campaign Trail '72 to that as HST moves from being interested in politics to seeing them as bloodthirsty crimbos.

My favourite is Kingdom of Fear
