My first bit of help would be to drop the "african american" in your self description unless you only want to do parts about being black.
My guess is you want to be an actor.
Here are some simple steps worth considering.
1. Get a job as an intern at the local TV station to learn the lingo.
2. Start doing some local commercials to get your face out there.
3. Join the Church Choir to develop your singing voice and breathing patterns.
4. Start working -- audition for local plays and musicals.
Those four are all free and you can start on them right away.
5. Take some acting classes or workshops.
6. Take some dance or movement courses.
7. Document all of your work to build a portfolio.
8. Get to know everyone, remember names and follow up on contacts -- it's called networking.
Time for the "big move."
9. Move to Hollywood and get an agent.
10. Audition for roles, do commercial work and voice/over work.
11. Keep networking, hope someone will help you out -- many say it's "who you know."
12. Be nice. Actors can be a prickly group, be nice to those you work with, those who work for you and any and every fan.
Final bits.
13. To be professional, you have to act like a professional.
14. Just like "a writer writes", an actor acts ... keep working on your craft.
15. The social scene is death -- drugs, sex, posses, parties make for short careers.
16. Be confident and act like you've been there before.
It's Star Time!

Take some headshots, use a reputable photographer. Send them along with a resume attached to the back to agents.(Never go with an agent if they ask for money upfront or they want you to pay them to get more headshots done) You might want to take some acting classes that you can put on your resume. They are some guidlines for making a resume. Im not sure about all of them but here are a few: name, age, weight, height, talents, experience, training. If you take acting classes Im sure the people running the class would be able to help. P.S. If you live in the L.A. area there are alot of bookstores around that sell books with names of agencies. And if you are in the L.A. area(sorry for assuming if you aren't) there is a a place in Bubank called West-Baron Hill that offers classes and the people are really knowledgeable. Good Luck! I hope I was helpful.

An admirable pursuit, and I applaud you... I do have some thoughts however.
Define "aspiring" I know the definition. What does it relate to in the context you suggest? Are you acting? OR just "aspire" to?
With no offense, it's confusing why Brando. Certainly in his youth he had many credits to his name, but scandals and setbacks as well. The fact that he was given "Golden" parts didn't strictly create him in a God like way though.
What IT takes,,,Hmmm... Talent, skills, education, experience, tenacity, self respect and self confidence, the ability to endure rejection without taking it personally. The ability to learn to enjoy Peanut butter,,, OFTEN. The will, no matter the odds, to explore your passion, and enjoy what may be compromises in not ever winning an Oscar.

To succed in anything you must refuse to give up. To a large degree you must be selfish about you goals. (notiice i did not say rude or obnocious) Choose good roll models in life.Use goals to the best of your ability. Education is paramount. Training in a wide viarity of things. Perserverince. Have faith in your self and your abilities. Have faith that God has a plan for your future. As for marlon Brando, he was a great actor but a very sick and troubled man.Have a fun day, and never give up you dreams.

Education and acting ability..get involved with your local theater groups in yur area, school plays, etc, etc, learn to speak in extemporaneous and in front of people..then after some success you will consult with an agent to get you bookings..Good Luck it's a tough business to break into and you need contacts..Keep your dreams and goal directly in sight and work towards that..Don't let yourself get side tracked by mundane stuff..Good question..hope you get some good advice..Have fun whatever you do!
