i sent it via "tell us what you think" link below. i complained that the abuse button is being freely abused by a minority of people and the decent people are being targeted. i`ve asked them to replace the abuse button wiv an email link so that whoever is reporting abuse will have to explain why they are reporting abuse. come on everyone voice ur opinions to yahoo using the same link. it`s near the bottom of the page. this situation is intolerable especially wen really decent people start leaving. this is a good site. come on guys lets make it an excellent site. nothing will be done unless u voice ur opinion. lets not let these idiots win!

DAVID C i`m not the one getting the problems. it`s other people here that are getting the problems and are leaving. personally i don`t care if i get reported but some people do. some really decent people here are being targeted by a stupid minority and it`s making them leave. i don`t get out much as i look after my dad so i rely on the internet. wen i find a decent site i do my bit to help make it good. it`s also in my nature to help people. i used to run my own site a few years ago and i know how it all works and i know how easy it`d be to remove/disable that abuse button. yes of course people have the right to report abuse but they should type out why they are reporting it rather than just hit the button and make a decent persons day a downer.

You want to make it a decent site - so why are you using "words" like ...wiv... ..ur.. ..wen.. ..u.. when one or two more key strokes would type the complete words properly, and why is there no use of capital letters in the right places.
These could be JUST the sort of things that get up some people's noses and cause them to report abuse, however slight.
I fully agree with you on your main point, but do you see what I'm getting at - just a thought!
Of course, as everybody knows only too well, no action will be taken as they obviously take absolutely no notice of such reports. If that were the case, as well as the two 'spammers' mentioned earlier, Sainsburys would have been barred, but instead they were GIVEN (or bought!) over 500 points so that they could swamp the site with their market research foodie questions. We just can't win.

Graham, don't you think that this is a bit of an over - reaction! I had a quick look at your posts, and only two days ago you posted a question
"Who on here has had the most violations?
i only have one but i want to build them up as i`m greedy "
Well in just two days... congratulations, you must have got what you wished for, or your being the devils advocate now.
I swear, but in moderation, and in context. I have prejudices, but I always try to argue my point from a balanced point of view, and i don't seem to having the problems you are getting.
The site works well, perhaps too well, for there are loads of dumb questions here, but in the spirit of free speech I don't report them for being dumb. I have only reported one answer to a question, which was down right out of order, the rest are OK, especially if my question was a bit provocative in the first place.. you get what you sew Graham.

Well since its a good site than other people shouldn't be putting other people down and saying direspectful and mean things to them this is a site were everyone should be able to ask there community questions and get positive feedback. But you are right saying that people need to explain why they are reporting the abuse because people shouldn't start getting off the site if they didn't do anything wrong.

I have never been reported for abusive cuz I never say anything that is rude. I think it's a good way to let people watch out their words.
But I believe there must be some people clicking it for fun just to mess up with others....and I don't think those people in charge of dealing with abusive reports really care to go through every single reports.

To be fair you do have to put an explanation in the box when you report abuse at present. I'm not going to complain because I don't have a problem with the abuse system as it is. If you look at the accounts of people who complain about being wrongly reported you can tell instantly that they almost always deserved it. It's just they're too pig-headed to accept that they're wrong.

nothing will be done anyway. Ive mailed yahoo with serious suggestions, and you never hear from them.
Realistically, there here to sell advertising, (as a site) and dont care, apart from biulding customer profiles, from key words you type, in replies, and match with your supplied information (false or not, they can still sell it as data, or statistics, to advertisers).
Even if you delete a post, or even clear the box as you type with backspace, its recorded, same as Msword, caused embarassment to busnisses, by including corrections and previous drafts, in word documents, if you used a simple corrections fascility to "edit" recieved documents!
I have seen really offensive stuff, take days to dissappear, yet, i created a false account, and "gave" its details and password, in a question, for others to use. It was deleted within minutes!
The administration of censorship, is interesting, as muslim slants seem reasonably ok, jews, certainly not, and apart from inuendo, you never see anything about child sex, which some idiot must submit, as twisted humour, just by averages, yet extreme profanity, never appears, to be later deleted?

I feel a report of abuse cannot be held up if no reason as to the reason for feeling offended is given. So agree.

personally, I'd like to see an age restricted adults section where no one can be deleted for one abuse report. it would take a minimum of three reports from different users.
