We all eat those mints called altoids. Empty tins (if you don't know they are 3x2x1 inch nicely made tins) are everywhere. How can I do a crafty thing with them, to be a good re-cycler? Maybe make Christmas pressies?

No need to say put nails, drawing pins/thumb tacks (see? I am bilingual) in them. We do that already!!

First paint them with a paint made specifically to adhere to metal then decorate with flat back, self adhesive crystals ( like Swarovski ) or rhinestones and use to carry aspirins or vitamins in your purse or to give as a gift. You can also use the decorated box as a gift box to present a pretty pair of earrings to someone special.

Here are some scrapbooking/ crafty ideas. I've heard that most gift certificates fit well in these tins -- Starbucks etc . . .

I just googles "altered altoids"

If you can put a wick and candle wax in them you could give them as small gifts.
You could make little emergency kits for the females w/adding a few safety pins, one of those tide pens, individual wipes and some wrapped mints.
Put photos of family in them and use them as gift tags instead of the paper ones.
That's about it, unless you want to make ornaments for peoples Christmas trees.

I watched a craft show on tv and she used it for gifts by putting little token gifts inside, $, candy and other items the recipient might like. First she took fabric cut it out and glued it to the top to make it pretty.

You could paint them and give them to children, who like little tins to put their treasures in.
Use for earrings when you travel.
Use for medication when travelling.
Use for craft supplies; sequins, etc.
Use for change in your vehicle for parking, or when you just need a can of pop out of a vending machine.

Use the tins for loose change. That way when you want a coke, car washed or something you don't have to go digging for change.
