Existence is not eternal. Some people always use the logic, "OH, our atoms and molecules will go on forever because energy cannot be created nor destroyed."
However, and this is a big however. They are assuming the universe will always exist. Clearly, the universe will not always exist because it is expanding.
The universe is very old, and will outlast all of this. But it's not correct logic to assume that a very old neighbor down the street is forever because you don't remember when he was young.
Science has practically proven that the universe will have an end, just like all other things. Once that occurs, everything we know as existence: atoms, molecules, souls, will all reenter the great chasm for once it came.

i think the only answer i can give is none of us can be certain about it.
we dont even know if this universe is eternal[ie universe expanding forever rather than ending in a big crunch] never mind any paralel universes.
but thats just physical existence.
can existence "be" at all without a universe inside which things can occur?
my intuition would have to be that existence has always existed and always will.
maybe that explains the need for death?.....even if we lived a thousand years, the accumulation of experience would be intolerable.
people who want immortality never actually think through what it would really mean.
imagine youve had every experience its possibly to have...youre sick to the soul of it all and you have to continue for eon after eon.
no rest no completion no finality.
immortals could well come to see eternity as hell.

First, it depends; existence of what?
Look at it this way (as I understood by the theory of ideas by Plato in his work the republic):
a man, a woman or a child dies individually, Mankind remains forever, Man is eternal. Individuals pass away while their kind remains eternal (eg through sexual reproduction).

yes, the universe is eternal since the universe has to expand into something. The universe keeps growing even after the human race is wiped out.

Yes. Once you exist you always exist. Even once you drop this body & leave this planet, you, the being, continue to exist. You live on in the memories of others, you leave people & things behind. You leave your mark on the world. Your legacy. You leave behind an energy & you move onto another plane (if you're religious you can call this Heaven/Hell/Purgatory whatever, or perhaps you believe in reincarnation, if you're not religious you can just call it another dimension, some manner of an afterlife.)

True existence is not subject to dissolution, and therefore is eternal, while the existence of anything else is unsubstantiated and subject to an end.

i think so,,, no matter what your beliefs, heaven, reincarnation,,, most have a belief of something coming after this life, i also have a belief of existence beforehand,,
and really, if you ever closely listen and talk with little children,, you will see/know that they just didnt get started, but actually see many deep subjects with great clarity,
i think we are born knowing /remembering, but then get busy with this life, and slowly lose some of that,,
i had always believed this, and wondered how i would explain my beliefs to my child, when she was 4, a neighbor passed on ,,,,, she said, oh he can go to heaven, get some candy , feel better, then he can come back or stay there ,,,,,, up to this point, i had never mentioned my beliefs to her!

Energy is never created or destroyed, just changed from one form to another. It is, however, highly likely that the human species will eventually die out, though advances in technology may prevent that. As for the universe, there was no big bang, and there will be no end either.

Excistence as we percieve is finite due to the black matter that came into excistence approximately 8 billion years ago causing the expansion rate of the universe to increase.Eventually this will reach a certain point then the universe will cease to excist .
