They would lose a large portion of their weight but in turn become malnourished, like anyone would, with out any food.
It really wouldn't be any great advantage for someone that is over weight to do this to their body because the bodies own natural defenses would trigger a type of starvation mode and slow the metabolism down even more.
When they did come out and go back to normal everyday life their body would then still be in the starvation mode, causing them to gain the weight back with even more weight than when they went in the room.
This I am absolutely certain, if you were to put both a skinny/healthy person and an over weight/healthy person in rooms in the conditions you allowed in your Q. The over weight person would survive longer.
Genetically over time people have adapted to their environments and I really believe that being overweight is a survival mechanism constructed up over generations. They are built to withstand the conditions.

I think they would lose quite a bit before they actually starved to death. Their body would go into Ketosis--burning the body fat--but at some point I'm sure it wouldn't be enough to survive

Well - it takes weeks to die with water and without food, and you do lose weight eating nothing over a period of time so my guess would be at their time of death they would be a couple of stone lighter than the weight they went in at.
EDIT: People referring to Nazi camps - Those people were kept alive over a period of months or even longer on very small diet. If you were kept with literally no food you would not live long enough for all your fat and muscle to disappear.

Super skinny anorexic. And anorexia is a disease, so it's harder to convince them to put on weight than to convince a obese person to lose weight.

i think their body would burn through all the fat and muscle first. look at those starving holocaust victims, or anorexic people. they look like skeletons, they have no fat or muscle. obviously they aren't getting enough nutrition at all, but their body still eats their fat & muscle and it's enough to keep them alive.

they would waste away, it would just take a long time. there were many chubby people going into the Nazi death camps they all got to be skin & bones the body doesn't quit that easily.
