It was hiding beneath my pain, behind my lack of satisfaction with the compromises and constraints of modern life, off to the side of my manners and on the opposite side away from my well-considered opinions and my political correctness. It was not so much a case of my finding it or of it finding me; it had always been there waiting to be awakened.
But now I know it well and it is my friend. We live in a happy synergy. The monster knows it has a place in my life and I know that we are part man and part beast. Kill one of us and you will kill us both. I do not intend to live without my monster and it cannot live without me.
But I accept my monster. That makes him less likely to harm. You may have a monster too. Accept him. If you shut your monster into your closet, it will make a big noise when he comes crashing out of there.
Just guessing.
