i have tried every one of these answers that you've recieved and i also had this same question on answers about 2 months ago.I have tried EVERYTHING but nothing works, even lion dung, the next step that im going to try is the electric cat deterant, thats another £25 out of my pocket, last year i spent £65 on different sprays etc.It would be so much easier if people taught their cats to use the cat litter outside aswell as inside or follow them around with a shovel like i do with my dog.If i had a cat,i would feel awful if i thought or saw it messing in peoples gardens.I have 8 cats living over the road from me,everyday i clean at least 2 piles a day,im so fed up off them, anyway,GOOD LUCK

Cats only like using areas of a garden for a litter box where the soil is dry and crumbly. If it's possible to do, water down the soil where they are doing their dirty work, and keep it damp for a couple of days. By that time, they may have found a new favorite spot to use. Or, if they have a certain time of day when they are there, make it a practice to do your watering just prior to that time.

The water in the garden is a popular way,but the proprietary brands you can get are also effective.
Please dont go down the road of some of the cruel suggestions that you always get from the more immature big gobs, and the like,i am sure you are more considerate than that.

When you have made a cup of tea with a tea bag leave the bag to dry, then tear open and sprinkle Olbas oil or tea tree oil on the leaves and scatter round the garden. Cats don't like the smell or the leaves sticking to their paws - it's totally harmless so you aren't being cruel!

There is a bug repellent made of wintergreen oil that also works well and is non-toxic. You can find it at most retail home & garden centers. It will keep cats, dogs, ants, rodents... all sorts of above ground critters out of your garden.
