Relate or compare?

A Choreographer for dance is like a Director for theater.

A Choreographer stages the scene, puts steps on the performers and collaborates with the other artistic areas; lighting, costuming, scenery, video projection and the composer.

Unless brought in to choreograph a "musical number" in a musical or a quick scene in a straight play, the Choreographer acts as Artistic Director for the production.

I'll take a crack at this one. Choreography is choreographing, or making a certain person/thing move a certain way. Most people associate it with dance, because that is what it is mainly known for. But if a stage director says that a prop should move, like the growing christmas tree in the Nutcracker, that is 'choreographing' the stage. If the said director thinks an actor should walk to stage right in the play, that is choreographing. Choreographing basically involves in anything that moves in the theatre.
