The definition of "superstition" is a belief that is outside of your own religion.

For example, in Hinduism, milk is holy. A symbol of motherhood, milk is freely given. Drinking milk causes no harm to any plant or animal, unlike other foods we eat. The best sweets in India are made from milk, and wasting it is a terrible thing. If a Christian believes that milk is holy, this is a "superstition" for the Christian.

Christians believe that a piece of bread can become the body of Jesus. To a Hindu, this is a superstition.

It isn't a matter of "truth" vs. "falsehood" -- it's a matter of mine vs. yours.

Religion: n, from the Latin religio, holiness. 1. belief in and worship of God or gods. 2. a specific system of belief, worship, etc., often involving a code of ethics.

Superstition: n, from the Latin superstitio, lit. standing(in awe) over. 1. any belief that is inconsistent with known facts and rational thought, esp. such a belief in omens, the supernatural, etc. 2. any action or practice based on such a belief.

Seeing as how most religions are based in the supernatural, I suppose one could consider any religion a superstition. About the only difference is that religion is worshipped and superstition is laughed at. Irony of ironies.

Religion is, in my opinion, the belief or disbelief of a huge other being, greater than anything on this earth, that created everything. Religion is the belief or disbelief that you will go to a certain place when you die.
Superstition, in my opinion, is the fear that something (probably bad) will happen if you do a certain thing a certain way, or see a certain thing, or do a certain something.
