I regularly get cramps in my feet, mostly at night when I'm going to bed. Can anyone explain why this happens and how to stop it happening in future?

Before giving me bad marks I think your should read this!
Bad shoes.

Wearing bad shoes all day can make them hurt even after you take them off. Stretch your feet out like put your toes on something about 1 or 2 inches high and lean forward so to stretch them. Rub them with your thumbs from the heel towards the toe. then soak them at least 15 minutes or more in warm water while your watching TV or something. That should help them feel better before you go to bed. But you need to get better fitting shoes like with shock guard or something to work in.

the way i do this's, once you get a cramp, you foot will initiate going right into a extraordinary shape or place, what you may desire to do is tension the choice of that place. as an occasion, in case you get a cramp that flexes your foot, the strain your foot into an extension. It does not take certainly one of those seconds to lose the cramp once you do this.

A potassium deficiency can cause cramps and achiness in the legs and feet. I would try eating more foods rich in potassium and drink lots of fluids (like gatorade) to make sure your body is as hydrated as it should be. Also, make an appt. with the doc, pain is a sign something isn't right. They can even do a blood test to check for vitmain deficiencies.

is it only in your feet not in the legs at all? I have heard of something called restless leg syndrom heres a blurb about taht and a website with more info could this be it??

Restless legs syndrome is a condition that produces an intense, often irresistible urge to move your legs because of unpleasant sensations, usually while you are trying to sleep. Moving your legs sometimes provides temporary relief. Restless legs syndrome often interferes with sleep, and that can lead to severe fatigue and problems functioning during the day.

could be due to hardening or narrowing of the arteries. If you hang your legs out of bed , and it quickly disappears, that will be the cause.

Ill fitting shoes only cause pain when you wear them, not at night.

Try calf stretches, cessation of tobacco, quinine (tonic water), and a little more salt.
