First of all, you need a program that has those options of jpg or gif for the saving of the picture. Make sure that you have saved your picture in 'MY PICTURES'.
The easiest program to use to convert bmp to jpg is 'paint' because every Windows program comes with 'paint'. (If you have a Mac, I can't help you.)
You can find 'paint' by clicking on 'start' and then, click on programs.
Find the word, 'accesssories' and click on it. Go to what it opens, go across and down to the word 'paint'. (You'll see a little icon of a jar with brushes). Click on paint. A painting program will open. Don't worry about the size of the white 'paper' that it shows, by the way. Go to file. Click on it. When the menu drops down, click on 'open'. Find 'my pictures folder' in the 'my documents set. Click on it. Find your picture. Click on it. It will open up in 'Paint'.
Now--how to convert it. Go to File. Click on it. Find: 'Save as'. Click on it. You will now see your picture again with two little white elongated rectangles below it. One is labled: File name.
One is labeled: Save as type.
Go to the 'save as type'. Find that little pointing arrow tip at the end of the row and click on that arrow. A whole choice of funny little choices will line up. Look for JPEG. Click on JPEG. Now click on 'Save'.
Ya hah! It is now converted! It is a born again jpeg! You've done it! gh
ps I am assuming you have Windows XP or some up to date operating system.

Just click on the pic, click on save as, then click either jpeg or gif. I had a horrible time with this at first but subscribe to worldstart computer tips and this one was in it one day. It's really quite easy and worldstart is a great site!

This is very easy. Do you have Microsoft Office? if you do then go to Microsoft Office Picture Manager. Import your image when you want to save save in different format.
Or click on image when it is open try to save again but in a format you wanted.
Or there are many freeware which could help you.
If you new and need any kind of help feel free send me mail:
