Get a free copy of your credit report if you have not done so recently. Look at the debts that are listed and ensure they are accurate. Look at how much credit you are using compared to what you have available. Pay down your debt so that it is less than 30%. Make payments on time. Listed below is a link which has a lot more info. Check it out. I recommend you trying to fix your credit before you think about paying someone else to repair it.

Get a credit card from any company that is willing to give you one, and then purposely put a certain amount of charges on the card. Then pay the bill on time. The longer you pay bills on time, the less your old bad credit will mean.

There is a myth that if you throw everything away to do with credit, that your credit will become good. It isn't true. What good credit is is a track record of routinely using credit and paying on time. People who rarely use credit are only marginally better in shape in terms of credit than people who have bad credit.

Time, time and more time. Get with your creditors right away, the ones who are seeing late payments. Get those straight first, some will discount your payments or lower your interest, they WILL work with you!

The credit that hurts you the most is a judgement. Clear that first. After that are collections (not the medical, they are not taken seriously by most lenders). Bankruptcies sit in there for 10 years, you can't heal them. The next is late mortgage payments. Again, call the creditors and work something out! So important! This might take a couple of years, but worth working on.

It is best to contact a no-profit credit repair place such as advantage. They will help you by getting all your bills down to a manageable amount you can afford. They are also good at

Lowering interest rates
Elimination of late and over limit fees
Ending collection calls

They can be and alternative to filing bankruptcy.

Sometimes you can be debt free in just a couple of years.

Good Luck.

Request all three copies of your credit report. Dispute everything negative. Anything not verified by the credit bureau within 30 days will by law be changed to how you disputed it. This is very effective.
