Most likely it is just floaters, but a season or 2 ago, on the show "House" (great medical show on fox, Tuesdays at 7:00 :-p ) there was a child that could not speak, see, or fully comprehend. The child ended up having a parasite inside him that went to his eyes. There were actually little worm type bugs in his eye balls floating around. He got it from playing in a sandbox that I believe was infected by an animal's waste or something.
But like i said, it probably is just a floater. The 2nd thing is kinda 'far-out'. I'd just sugguest asking a doctor about it the next time you go in for something.

Floaters are harmless and can be removed by cold water wash. You can buy a eye washing glass or a cup, ask you doctor see if he/she would spare you one, other wise he will show you one that he may have. You will have to find it. In USA some pharmacy keep them. It comes in many styles I like the one that is blue in colour and resembles wine glass. They also come in package of 5, made out of plastic. They look like small elliptical bowls.
Other wise:
You are blessed, a good doctor should have explained you that it is call photographic memory(I can explain it only one way).
I am 64 years old and feel like 76, I still have this.
In that case, when you close your eyes the last image says, on your retina and fades, slowly. It may take more then five minutes.
The average time a image stays on the retina is1/16 of a second for most human, this is the principal of movie camera, initially the movies were produced at exactly 16 frames per second. So to lots of people it looked jerky and funny, to day they are produced at much higher frames per second to accommodate the people on both side of the average.

Yes one day I also felt the same. Then I realise that too much on the internet and too much exposure to light. So I took rest and limitted the use of computer. While sleeping no light--total dark.Even I use Eye mask--that prohibits entering sunlight to my eyes even I am sleeping.A great success. But from then I have limitted using less time in computer and less exposure to sunlight.Sometimes washing the eyes with rose water is beneficial--which cools the eye.If not then only cold water you can use for wasing the eyes.

Floaters are deposits of various size, shape, consistency, refractive index, and motility within the eye's normally transparent vitreous humour.[1] They may be of embryonic origin or acquired due to degenerative changes of the vitreous humour or retina.[1] The perception of floaters is known as myodesopsia, or less commonly as myiodeopsia, myiodesopsia, or myodeopsia.[1] When observed subjectively, floaters are entoptic phenomena characterized by shadow-like shapes which appear singly or together with several others in one's field of vision. They may appear as spots, threads, or fragments of cobwebs, that float slowly before one's eyes.
Latin-derived Muscae volitantes (meaning 'flying flies'), or French-derived mouches volantes, are a specific type of floater consisting of small spots whose presence is normal and attributed to minute remnants of embryonic structures in the vitreous humour.

I also had it few days before. It not any dangerous error. When there is immediate action in our body like sneezing, turning around, focussing very sharply etc., it causes a sudden action in our brain and hence, flies (multicoloured) appears in front of our eyes.
