I purchased a new puppy, had him for 4 hours, and saw worms in his feces. I returned him to breeder, 1 week ago, and now she says she "saw" the puppy pass a 3inch worm, but she still sees the rice like in poop. I have chronic illness myself, and cannot risk him still being sick. But, he was a great little puppy, and if he is well, i would like to try again. But I was so icked out as well, that I NEED to know he is well. Can anyone PLEASE help me? Thank you!

I'm sorry, choose another dog and get refunded. Worms are a real nuisance and once your dog is prone to them, good luck! They will also cause other medical issues. You've only had him a few hours so he's not attached to you yet. Think of it as babysitting and start out with a healthy dog without problems. By the way, don't take another dog from that breeder. Worms are VERY contagious and probability is that all the other dogs have them as well. If she gave you a health guarantee you should get your money back.

He isn't "sick" he only has worms.Worms are cureable. A good vet can help you with a regular deworming program. Puppies need to be dewormed at 2, 4, 6 & 8 weeks of age (as do their mothers) and then periodically after that.

Seeing worms isn't a reason to return a puppy to it's breeder. It isn't genetic and it is fixable. ALL Puppies/dogs do have worms throughout their lives (just because they aren't seen doesn't mean they aren't there. ALL dogs should have a fecal test done at least twice a year)and a vet will help you out with a program that is suitable for your particualr dog and needs.

If I have been you i could music down the breeder, whoever bought the domestic dog for you mustn't have been bought a 6 week old domestic dog with worms. puppies are meant to stay with their mom until they're 8 weeks old and an outstanding breeder could have wormed the puppies at 2,4 and eight weeks. Many over-the-counter wormers at the instant are not designed for puppies, in case you're taking your domestic dog to the vet with a stool pattern, they're going to propose a product or trojan horse the domestic dog themselves. i could try this asap as worms could reason many issues in youthful dogs.

Sounds like tapeworm. The egg sacks are expelled, not the worm itself. They come out about 2-3 inches in length and then shrivel up to the size of a grain of rice.
Tapeworm is caused by fleas that are infected.
A vet can prescribe Droncit or you can go to the pet store and get Pranziquantel which is the generic form of Droncit. It does work. I've used it on quite a few of our rescue dogs.
Regular wormers that are for hook or round worm will not kill tape worm, but will slow it down for a few days.

I got a little Min Pin/ Chihuahua at Mother's Day and he had worms really bad. He would scoot his behind on the floor. The vet gave him some medication and he past hundreds of them. We went back in two weeks and he gave him another dose of medication and now he's fine. Don't worry Sweetie, it's just a dog thing.
