As in, you had known her for years, and you thought she was great - you liked her personality and thought she was beautiful, but you knew she had some issues and was nervous about physical contact, would you be prepared to wait for her?
I'm sort of in this position myself and want to know the male perspective on it...

Ok, I'm going to add more specifics to this ...

He was in my flat last week, and he just wanted to give me a cuddle and I totally panicked ... I know it's been a long time since I was with a guy, but this is not normal, right?

Now, here is the final part of the question .. I was in hospital a lot when I was little, especially between the ages of 1 and 3, but then every now and then throughout my childhood - do you think I've developed this problem as a result of this? Because I'm wondering if I am associating male contact with something that happened when I was really little ...

I would like to know what issues to give a more accurate answer but I think I would wait. It sounds like love and if she's really great, then she should be worth waiting for. I hope you can resolve your issues then so that you and whatever guy likes you can have a relationship and move on.

You should be talking to him about it rather than us. Especially as you've known each other a while he'll have a much better perspective on you. THis'll also give you the chance to get close slowly.

Take your time.

About the "issues" you may also want to get professional help. Don't mean that nastily!

Good luck with the fella tho!

I guess it really depends on how much physical contact meant to you IE. sex. If she can offer you all the things in a girl you want and you knew you could (sorry to sound cliche) "grow old with her" then what is wrong with waiting? unless you're desperate to get ur socks off?

Only if I knew said girl did like me. Knowing the girl has problems with contact is easy to understand consciously, but if they shy away from you it's automatic to wonder if do they like you, if they're not already completely sure.

It really depends on the guy. you will never get a well rounded answer. personally, if I liked you that much, I would wait. I've done it before, but I am patient and caring. Not many like me left.

sounds like it's possible you were molested, as you suspect... honestly i would be turned off if a girl didn't want to cuddle. in other words, i'd think she didn't like me. other than that, i wouldn't mind waiting for sex but i'd want to kiss and hold each other. maybe you should tell him what's on your mind about this?
