Okay. Lets try to figure this out.......
Divx is an .avi format
First put the disk in a computer and try to open it with the Divx Player and see if it will run. (Also your windows player should run the DVD)

If it runs on the puter then check the player for format compatabilities like RW & W/RW
You may have to convert and burn them to a DVD with some software like VSO Convert to Divx

I thought these Divx died a long time ago, like the Betamax. Circuit City was the only retailer to embrace this one. Consumers were unimpressed by the low cost of the movies; mainly because they needed to replace the discs constantly.
Divx was a disposable system; once you play it, the disc begins to disolve and loose the content. Also, Divx was not designed to play on DVD players.. Divx players can play both, but Divx discs still disolve.
