I used to go to bed at 11 or 11:30pm and wake up at 6am religiously, with waking once or twice in the night. However the past 2 weeks I have been going to bed at 11 and waking at 3 or 4am and am unable to go back to sleep. I am so tired during the day. I go to sleep at 11 and sleep just fine. Then at 3 or 4 I am wide awake. I do not drink caffine in the evenings. Don't eat 3 hours before bed. I don't take naps, even though I'd like to because I'm exhausted during the day. I would appreciate any suggestions that would help me. Thanks!

The temperature is fine in my room and it's dark and quiet. I also work out. As far as the ambien goes- I know someone who had night terrors while taking it. She even took toe nail clippers and clipped all the moles off her neck during one episode. Once off the ambien she was fine.

I've had the same bed time and waking time for a year and a half now. 11-6. No trouble going to sleep. I just wake up 3 hours earlier than I should.

the only other things that i know of other than those you've mentioned are room set up such as a good bed, keeping the room dark and quiet, temperature in the room, and just using the bedroom for sleeping and not reading and tv watching. other than that there is always stress. if something has been bothering you that can happen. i tried ambien for awhile and it was much better than other sleep aids. it helps you sleep through the night without too much drowsiness where other things can really knock you out. it seems to be gentler.

take Valerian tea at night just before you go bed. You'll get a good deep sleep from that.
You may still wake up early but you'll feel dizzy.
If you do wake up early still take jasmine tea
or a cup of cocoa.. then go back to bed! When You wake up then take Vervain so that You can be alert throughout the day! Note I suggest just use the Valerian every 3rd night until it normalizes your system then try doing without it! Incase you don't know a version of Nightal is made with Valerian.. The synthetic version uses Valium!

there are alot of things that may causing this. I have the same problem, especially when the clocks changed. mostly its stress that will keep you from sleeping deeply, because your mind is not shutting down its thinking to much even sub-consiously, try taking a hot bath before you go to bed, and maybe even reading a few pages will help you feel sleepy. as far as abien goes yes it can help but it should only be used for a few days. there are other meds out there like Lunesta, talk to your doc . hope you get some z'sssssss

Get up, grab a book, make some hot milk, and try all all over again. When you need sleep, you'll sleep. When you don't, you don't.
Just be careful 16 to 18 hours later if you are driving in traffic or running machinery! You may be sleepy.

the best advice i can tell you is to either start a schedule and go to bed at the sametime, try doing something that helps you relax before going to bed, and if that doesnt work, you'll might have to use sleeping pills.
sex would work, but you wold be a little out of luck if you're single
