Happening more and more! What's the amount an what was it for? If they bought something from you in person , in the area where you live,call the local police department, if it was a mail order sale, call the police department in their area, it's fraud.
Over a certain amount (depends on the state, Utah is $250, Wisconsin $600) , it's also a felony. Good luck!

Call the FBI and the bank its from, your bank, and the police in the area the checks from. Then get an attorney on the phone and explain your situation. Any attorney, as long as they are willing to listen. if it sounds like a legitamate claim, they will gladly take you on.
