Take him to the vet. Unless you know what you are doing, you could make things worse by trying to treat him yourself.

When your dog is ill and you do not know exactly what is wrong, don`t ask `laymen`, take him to your vet. It could be an infection that needs antibiotics. Your dog could be in pain, he can`t tell you. Take him to the Vet. The P.D.S.A. will treat him free if you cannot afford to pay.

really you should take him to the vets, however i would use what humans use i always give my staff paracetamol if he hurts himslef but ths only if he doesnt need a vet. i even give my horses benylin when they have a cough. i think if it dont hurt us it wont hurt them.

Considering staffys - I would check to find what he has been chewing to cause the "rash".

It may be abrasions from something he has chewed at or it could be a reaction from something he chewed.
