I'm interested in importing blowguns with paintball attachments into the UK but can't confirm if they are legal or not. Searches of the Home office web site didn't help so I'd appreciate any reliable info.

Thanks.

I would contact Customs and Excise and see how you go about gaining a licence to import them. They will advise you of the legal side too.

Unlikely to be legal. Don't import even samples without a license from the Home Office, or a written statement that you don't need one. I recall many years ago some guy brought a classified military weapon to the UK and had it in his hotel room. He thought he had verbal consent, and appointments to show them to military and government officials.

Verbal consent is worthless. The first guy he rang for an appointment called the police; the government confiscated his "weapon" (actually some kind of electronic aiming system) and apparently reverse engineered it. Without compensation.

We do have paintballing in the UK, so that's fine.
But if this is borderline or different or you are not sure, then contact the airport or the airline you are planning to take it through. I believe they have to tell you (within ??days) whether or not you can take it with you.

When you say blow guns do you mean of the pea shooter type, if these are to be sold with paint balls, then God help us, there will be paint over every thing and everybody at great expense to the poor sod who will have the cleaning bill, some hooligans will make improper use of them at our expense, so do us all a favour forget them.or you may be sued for selling them by the persons who get hit with them , I know I would

Can I suggest that you contact your local Police Station and give them as much details as possible.
Every Police Station has Armed Response Officers who can advise you.

Everything is now illegal in the UK (Including free-speech) so I wouldn't hold out any hope of these being allowed.
