i am using office xp but i am having problems with headers and footers it seems as though there linked eg i have page 1 page 2 and page 3 but the headers on pages 1 and 3 seem to be connected eg page 3 header reads page 1 and if i change it back to page 3 the header on page 1 changes to page 3 header

can any one help me please

The same thing occured for me when I was formatting few articles for my college magazine. But, this happens only if you try to add headers and footers after typing in many pages of text. If you add headers or page numbers right before starting your work, then this problem wont exist..

once you have clicked on view, then header and footer there is a little icon for "page setup" on the bar thig that pops up. click that then click the tab "layout" make sure that the boxes for different pages odd and even or different first page deending on what you want are ticked or not. hope this helps.

Open up your document in one window and open up a blank one in another.

Go back to your document and press [Ctrl] and [A] to select all of the document then press [Ctrl] and [C] to copy it.

Now go to the blank document and press [Ctrl] and [P] to paste the document.

Save the file (give is a new file name) and then try doing the Headers again.
