Is it ok to text message people while they're asleep?

Or do you think it's as rude (and loud) as calling someone?

I knew it'd be a moot point :-)
Personally I think it's ok, I don't think everyone is expected to put their phones on silent while they sleep, but if a text message alert wakes them up, maybe they should :-)

i think it's fine to txt people while they sleep. most people don't hear a txt come if they are sleeping anyway. besides, it's a moble, if they don't want calls or txt when they r sleeping they have the option of turning it off, don't they.

There is nothing i hate more...
I use my mobile phone as my alarm..
Also its for emergency's..

If i get a beep in the middle of the night i always check just in case its family needing me urgently..
So when you get a text message of a joke or something like that at 1 or 3 am in the morning.. not acceptable.

New Years eve is different of course.

If the phone is still on while the person is asleep then that person shouldn't mind if the phone rings or they are texted. I personally turn all phone's off prior to sleeping.

I often text people in an effort not to distrube them. If they are sleep or otherwise in dispose they need to put the phone on silence.

I think it's fine because they would have switched it off. They will get the message when they switch it on when they get up.
