There is actually lots to shop in Seoul... endless, i love Myeondong and shops at the Dongdaemun Market (not the open air market) and Sinchon and Ewha Wonans University Vicinity...

For Dongdaemum, get out at Dongdaemun Stdaium Stn ( line 2/4/5 exit 1) and look for shops like Migliore, Doosan Towers and Apm ( you can shop till 5am here) .....

as for ancient places...... not much into it.. sorry...

Ancient places in Seoul:

1. Visit the Changdukgung palace built in 1405 and designated as an UNESCO World Heritage site. It is well known for its secret garden which shows Korea's distinct natural beauty through its exquisite pavilions, where they stand in harmony with the surrounding ponds and 1000-year-old trees.

2. Or the Presidential Blue House, the Korean President's residence

3. Deoksugung Palace, built in 1454 during the Joseon Dynasty.
