I do a little exercise, but not an extreme amount. Every morning i wake up and it feels like I have ran a marathon.

You probably just need more exercise, a build up of lactic acid is causing muscle cramps over night.

The answer may depend on your age.

If you are still growing, the muscles and tendons may not keep up with the growth rate of the bones, causing muscle pain.

If you are young or over 60, muscle cramps are not uncommon at night. Usual cause is lack of potassium/calcium. Drinking Gatorade before bed will help.

Hope this helps!

Do you sleep with your legs folded?
If you do try to relax them a bit
Do a little stretch before you sleep and if you exercise don't over do it, even just a little

See a doctor!
