"Best by" has nothing to do with spoilage in terms of making anyone sick. It just means that it may not taste as fresh, that's all. So smell the bottle of oil, and if there is no bad smell, eat and enjoy.
Did you know that when an oil turns rancid, it's not because of germs or mold. Oil has open spaces between the atoms of it's chemical structure. These spaces would like to get "completed".
So the oil will absorb atoms of sulfur or iron, from the air. It won't hurt you but that's what gives it that yucky rancid odor and flavor.

it should be still ok. if the bottle smells bad, than it is better to throw it away. the best by dates, are there to guide you, but are not always correct.
if you don't use oil that often that you have old oil, next time try to buy smaller bottles to prevent something of the sort from happening again.

Not a problem. The "best by" date that producers state is not the same as "use by" it is just a statement that they believe their product might start to lose its quality after that date. Oils can last a long time as long as they are kept tightly sealed.

It should be OK -- but smell the bottle of oil, to make sure it doesn't smell rancid. If it smells "off" throw it out, and get rid of the cake.
(-: Just don't tell your husband. If it's fine, he'll never notice, but if you tell him, he will start imagining things!

yes, the cake is perfectly ok and safe to eat.
Enjoy it..
when oil is "expired" it is not toxic or unhealthy for you..it means its property is not guaranteed to be the same after that date and when cooking certain things, like frying, it might not cook the item as well..
its confusing, but not harmfull

whoa I always am very strict to the "best before" and never use anything after the date. But a cake is baked... i think it's better to throw out. of course if you don;t mind a stomachache or other diseases.

Yes, if it's two to three days expired, it's fine to eat it. Just make sure you and your hubby are free of sickness. ;)
