I park my car on my drive right under a telephone wire that goes into the house at roof level. The birds sit on it and use my car as target practice, any ideas to move them on ????

Sadly no, I don't think it is legal to poision or shoot them.
The bomb my car, and my brother's at his house often.
I am reminded of the cartoon I saw once.

I've seen life-like owls you can buy to suspend from tree limbs that move with wind and scare squirrels away. Maybe a similar thing would work for birds. Get a life-like predator and suspend it where it'll move likewise to keep birds away. At least it might be worth checking out on the internet to see if such exists and works.

The shiny ribbons do work & you can also use those aluminum pie pans but you have to get them close enough to pose a threat. You could also tie a new line with clothesline rope and hang bird feeders on it which might lure them to a more favorable spot.

Throw a thin piece of rope over it (weighted at one end) then attach some plastice bottles filled with small stones. The bottles swinging will be enough to put them off.

You could try tying some shiny (reflective) ribbons off the wire or to a tree nearby. We had the same problem and this method worked for us.
