Does he punish us for our sins, through the actions and words of other people or through a natural disaster? My question emphasizes the choices, motives, and actions of other people. Does he play an active role in our lives through punishment?

Depends on your world view and definition of God. If you believe in God as a part of you, inside your heart then he's in charge of guiding you through your life. But if you seal him out, then you might become lost forever.

God does not punish. My belief is ..God is love , right ? His love is unconditional no matter what we do. He gave us free choice, right ? so why would He give us free choice then punish us for making the wrong choice .....everything that happens to us good or bad is life and are consequences of our actions nothing more. . Think about it, all the different religions, beliefs, what yardstick would He use ?, judge us all differently according to all our religions ? no. The natural disasters are just that ..... not a punishment. God is Love, that's all there is ...........and yes, he does play an active roll in our lives with love not punishment

We are punished but, as your question asks "does God play an active role in our punishment?" No. God has given us standards to live by, there are consequences to not living by those standards. Some would view that as punishment, but it's more like and "I told you so" from God. I told you not to committ adultery, now you have a STD and are in the mist of a divorce. God, didn't cause the STD or the divorce. Your own actions do. The book of Proverbs speaks of discipline from God. The discipline it speaks of is more the consequences of choices that are against Biblical teaching.

Dear demon_car,

First let me say that sins have consequences to them. God takes no delight in punishing us, but we reap what we sow (so to speak). So if someone commits a crime, they go to jail, God isn't happy about that- but our sins have consequences.

Some of the consequences too includes the fact that there are certain actions, thoughts, motives that we have that can keep God's blessing away from our lives. For example if we choose to sleep around- how is God going to honor any of our relationships with those people...

God doesn't tell us how exactly sin is punished- just that there is a consequence to sin- and it always draws you further away from Him. There is not a sin that God can not forgive and God also teaches in James 2:13 that mercy triumphs over judgement. That God prefers to show us mercy rather than judge us. So there are times when God kindly does not give us what we deserve in light of our disobedience. But sin is not to be taken lightly.

The Bible tells us also that as a father chastens his children, God disciplines those he loves. God will at times discipline us to get us back on track.

The idea that God is out to get us and looking for a reason to punish us is not a biblical picture of God. God does punish and is revolted by sin. But God is also patient, longsuffering, the book of Luke says: God is kind to the evil and unthankful. Romans says it's God's kindness that leads us to repentance.

Anyhow hope i haven't over-loaded you and that this is helpful and makes sense. Feel free to email me if you have any further questions or need me to clarify anything. More than happy to help.

Kindly,

Nickster

Historically, the Gods seems to punish, in present day we describe it slightly different. Humans are evolving, with the earth as a unit. We are evolving towards unity and diversity. Selfishness would seem to be punished in the natural law, but it is "motivation" to move us to a consciousness of non-judgment, unconditional acceptance of others, and love.

specific,God created us. enable me ask you this : How do you be attentive to for specific God has predestined our lives? specific, God is omniscient, yet God can will what he likes. He could have willed to not be attentive to the path that we commute. the rationalization i say it is with the aid of the fact God is a Trinity. God the daddy knows of yet God the Son (Jesus Christ ) would not be attentive to. it is an contract between them. right this is greater beneficial info of what i say. God the Son would not be attentive to the hour or the day while he comes lower back to choose the living and the ineffective. basically the daddy knows of. Do you notice what i recommend? God predestines no person to bypass to hell. For this, a wilful turning faraway from God is needed, and endurance in it until the tip.God would not elect any to perish, yet all to come back to repentance. i be attentive to this ought to sound insane to you besides the undeniable fact that it relatively is the sole way i be attentive to a thank you to place it into words. i does not be shocked in case you reject this, as many Christians does not understand the two.

If God is All-Knowing, All-Present, and All-Mighty as taught in the Baltimore Catechisms of my youth (I'm a somewhat fallen Catholic) then He must be punishing us. Nothing happens to us except through Him. As I've grown older and more cynical I'm inclined to believe that whatever happens to us is random. Good and bad seems to happen to good and bad people for not apparent reason. Good people suffer and bad people prosper. But sometimes good people prosper and bad people suffer. Go figure!
