A good open hand spank on the behind never hurts :) but since you are dealing with ex who might be an @#$ then best to start somewhere it can be documented as problem. If he is having any difficulties in school have a meeting with the princeable and teacher with your concerns and request , suggestions. It will help later on to have actions documented. Counciling if you can afford it. That way if you need to ever request supervised visitations you are holding more cards. Keep a calender of ex's actions and child's reactions. If not to support your case it may help you see patterns and things you know helps improve it. Remember children do as they see not as they are told. So you need to live the example you want you child to follow.

Six yr old child who does not respect elders is probably because he`d been pampered when he was younger. And now even if you spank or shout at him, he will not become a respectful kid.
Another thing is maybe he always see you and your ex disrespect each other, so he thinks that is okay.
The only way you can change him is that you never talk rudely to your ex in front of him and tell your child how wonderful is his father even if you know it isn`t true. You might hate your ex but he will always love his father.
Your ex should do the same to him.

tell him fine ok but then if you do not listen then you do not have your tv you do not have you game system and you are not to play out side anymore and you have to stay in your room without anything to playwith. Until you are ready to behave. HAVE A Serious talk with you ex about this too because you have different rules then your ex that is the problem right there too many different rules he might forget what he is aloud to do at your house and his dads house. Talk to him too find out what is really bothering him.
GOOD LUCK

My sisters son is like this too and I tell her the same thing I am going to tell you. QUIT BLAMING YOUR EX! this kid has got many many rules in his life, many people telling him what to do andhow to do this and that. you, his teacher, his Dad, maybe you have a boyfriend or he has older siblings. Regardless everyone is telling him how to be and act so he just don't care anymore. He don't know what is right and what is wrong because this is a confused little boy. He's acting out like most kids in his situation would. You as his mother are just going to have to accept it as it is. Sympathise with him instead of blaming his father. Be more in tune to what he is feeling and talk to him about his feelings. You might find that inside your 6 year old, he is very hurt and confused.

Look at his diet. what does he eat what does he drink.Lots of sugar can cause bad reactions in children. Its like liquid crack. My 8 year old is also disrespectful at home. we have took everything out of her room and she still throws tantrums. So now every time she does one i send her to her room because shes not allowed to throw fits in the living room . An i basically ignore her when shes throwing the tantrum instead of arguing with her. After a while when she realizes shes not getting a response she either falls asleep from exhaustion or comes and apologizes for her behavior. Most important thing is to remember you are in control.
